Online Drive with Gmail
I recently stumbled upon an excellent shell extension for Windows which allows users to map your regular Gmail account as a virtual online drive on your computer. I thought this is an example of how technology is converging. Simply download the setup files, extract it into a temporary folder and run the setup.exe. Once done, you will see a Gmail drive in your explorer. Clicking it will bring up a username and password prompt for the first time. Once you're login, you can start to use your regular ......

Microsoft Office vs Google Apps
The inevitable happened eventually, Google will be releasing a package of office-like applications this coming Thursday, just a couple of months after Microsoft released Office 2007. This package, called Google Apps, will be hosted as services accessible over the internet with Google storing the data. However innovative this is idea is, I'm not too sure if that is the best way to do it. Is Google aiming at the everyday user or at corporations? Will corporations trust Google and it's services enough ......

Web 2.0 is about linking people
I don't normally blog about this things or embed videos in blogs, as I think its quite annoying. This video, however, made me want to post it up. I stumble upon it in YouTube and thought it was pretty cool and perfectly logical. Take a look at it, and you'll probably agree ......

Excellent search engine hiding in Google's and Live's shadow
In case you do not know already, there is an excellent search engine that has been around for a very long time, overshadowed by Google and the recent Live.com. The search engine is Clusty from Vivisimo. A colleague of mine sent me a mail entitled "The most popular are not necessarily the best" and in the email, he wrote http://clusty.com. I visited it, tried it a few times, and decided to switch back to Google. Today, I decided to try it again and I'm glad I did. It's still pretty much the same engine ......

Blogging with Windows Live Writer
This post is written entirely in Windows Live Writer. Now this is the way blogging ought to be done. Since not everyone is fortunate enough to have Office 2007 sitting on their office desktop, Windows Live Writer comes as an excellent alternative. However, before you can get it up and running, there're some simple set up steps to follow to configure for Geekswithblogs Step 1Download Windows Live Writer from here. MS Project 2003 Tasks and Outlook 2003 Tasks
If you are a Project Manager, or have in any way been involved in a project which require you to use Project 2003, there is probably a time when you wish for some way to export your Project tasks out into Outlook 2003. There is an easy way to import Outlook task into Project 2003, but not the other way round. It seem more natural and obvious to have tasks defined and sorted out in Project 2003 first, and have them exported into Outlook for your action. The simpliest way around this problem is to ......

Ferarris for bloggers?
I thought that was an awesome idea from a marketing point of view. They will probably gather different opinions from other camps but this is still pretty mind blowing. There is a huge difference between a company believing in the power of community and a company that does not. Take a look at all the multi-million dollar acquisition that happened recently. Google believed in it, YouTube believed in it, Facebook believed in it, Flickr believed in it and I think, Microsoft believed in it. In fact, their ......

Can I ask you an IT question?
A couple of days ago I got 'challenged' by an ex-colleague over a question which I least expected. By the way, that ex-colleague isn't a technical person. It got me thinking. I was asked a very simple 'IT' question. Here's an example of how the conversation goes. For obvious reasons, let's just call the person my 'ex-colleague' Ex-colleague: Can I ask you an IT question? Nestor: ? Ex-colleague: I installed Vista Nestor: and? Ex-colleague: How come I can't find my XP? Nestor: ... Nestor: that's hard ......
