.NET Hobbyist Programmer Staying Confused in a Busy World

It begins!

We have been innundated here in Orlando with dire warnings of multiple catastrophic storms all trying to fit through our windows.  Florida has told everyone to be self-sufficient for 5-7 days while rescue crews work to save the sick, infirm, elderly and stupid (we have lots of all four).  Previously, we were told to be able to hold out for three days.

I have patched my stucco cracks again this year to help keep out the wind driven water.  My storm shutters are standing by.  The generator is ready.  The Dinty Moore is on the shelf.

Bring it on!

Well, Mark, I hope I'm ready, too! I just hope I don't "need" to be, at least on a 2004-scale!

I actually grew up in South Florida and I was in High School during Hurricane Andrew (we lived in Fort Lauderdale East of 95). Before Andrew made its faithful turn southward to level Miami-Dade, they thought it was coming through Ft. Lauderdale and my family and I evacuated to Gainesville.

Hurricanes are just a reality of living in this wonderful state and so we have started our own blog focused on Hurricane and Consumer protection. Given the up tick in hurricanes and the Katrina disaster - we are worried that most citizens are vulnerable. A Big Wind is a community blog and forum with one mission: Hurricane protection through consumer protection, community involvement, and commerce.
Let us know your thoughts.

Thanks,

A Big Wind

Both of the "this" that you may be referring to are blogs, so there is no joining required.

The storms of 2004 and 2005 destroyed a huge amount of affordable housing available to working-folks.

I am seeking suggestions and dialog on materials, techniques, designs that can be used to build hurricane resistant, but affordable housing for work-force and entry-level families.

I will be checking this blog, but you may also reply to pcolajack@earthlink.net

Thank you.
