You can:
- SEE people
- DRAW flowcharts
- FEEL important
- FORM subcommittees
- IMPRESS your colleagues
- MAKE meaningless recommendations
ALL on COMPANY TIME!!!

# re: On Meetings

The first week I was at my current job I received my first invite to a meeting. Much to my dismay it was a meeting to discuss when we were going to have the meetings. I remember thinking "What have I just gotten myself into!".

Do I sense some frustration? ;-)

Seriously though, at my last job most meetings were very, very productive. They were called because 'in the halls' and emails weren't sufficing. It was to get folk together to make a decision. Good stuff.

My new job? It's all about who has the power. A meeting is called when someone wants to tell others something, when you've done something wrong and everyone needs to know or when someone just really wants to follow your list of things up there.

It's the worst kind of Dilbert. It's real life Dilbert.
