Mark Schmidt's Abode On programming, writing, gaming and life...
Well, I no longer work at HP but this is still some exciting news. When I joined HP, Lew Platt was at the helm and things looked good. He then stepped down and Carly took the reigns. In my opinion, things really went downhill. I'm not going to get into everything that I witnessed while I was there, but if there was one thing that really made me open my eyes, it was the elimination of various employee morale items/events/etc... all in the name of “cost cutting”. Towards the end of my employment at HP, my morale had sunk to an all time low. It wasn't my managers fault (in fact she did a tremendous job for our teams' morale, or at least as much as she was permitted to). While these little perks were cut, you would hear things like Carly going on a Leer Jet spending spree. HP is a great company and now hopefully they can right some of the wrongs that Carly brought with her. So to whoever is coming onboard as the new CEO, take a good look at the employee morale. Happy employees are productive employees. Just ask my new boss, Bill. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Carly :-) Posted on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 1:20 PM Misc | Back to top
