Mark Schmidt's Abode On programming, writing, gaming and life...

Well, its time to upgrade and get a new computer. Now you might think that since I'm a geek (as most of you are) that I would just go and buy all the parts and slap something together myself. Honestly, I've done it once and I really don't plan on doing it again. It just doesn't thrill me that much. However, I also tend not to buy name brand computers (Dell, HP, Sony, etc...) since I believe they don't really give you as much bang for the buck as some of the smaller shops that custom build the computers for you do. My current computer (and soon to be son's computer) was made by IBuyPower.

This time I'm going to go with CyberPower.  Specifically, I'm thinking of getting the Gamer Infinity 6800 Pro.  Here's what it comes with (after adding the extra options that I wanted):

CABLE: Round Cable Upgrade for Hard Drive, Optical Drive & Floppy Drive
CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor @ 3.4GHz 800MHz FSB
CD: SONY 52X CD-ROM
CDRW: 12X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE
HDD: 160GB 7200 RPM ATA 100 HARD DRIVE
MOTHERBOARD: *(DDR400-800MHz FSB)ASUS P4P800-E DELUXE I865PE AGP8X DUAL DDR w/AUD,USB2,LAN
MEMORY: 2048 MB (1GBx2) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY [+348] (Corsair XMS PRO High Performance Memory w/ Heat Spreader & LED Lights)
POWERSUPPLY: Super Alien 500 Watt See Through Power Supply w/ Fan Speed Control
TEMP: SILVERSTONE EUDEMON SST-FP52 LCD DISPLAY FRONT PANEL
VIDEO: nVidia GeForce FX 6800 GT 256MB AGP8X w/TVO&DVI

That's about it. I haven't quite convinced my wife to let me get an LCD, but she'll cave in eventually (since she would get one too).
