Link to my my KendoUI session

Here are the slides

Code samples download (pls check back in couple of days)

Kendo UI widgets for web and mobile + ASP.NET MVC server wrappers.

Introduction to Kendo UI - platform for HTML5/JavaScript development.

Presentation went quite smooth for my first time speaking at #OrlandoCC, and the room was full of geeks

Big tnx to the @Telerik and @Telerini for the SWAG (including license of "Kendo UI Complete" and
"Rad controls for WP")

Same location as last year - Seminole State College.

This year I was approved for a session to talk about KendoUI, we've been using the toolset at work,
so it's cool to share some tips and tricks learned.

Arrived day early to be able to attend well organized "Speaker's Party",
my wife, daughter and son Jake (junior dev at FSCJ) joined me this year for the road trip.

The team of well organized volunteers, great speaker lineup and 700+ participants from everywhere made for
another successful event.

Was not able to attend sessions by one of my favorite speaker John Papa - he was presenting at the same time as me.

My favorite 3 sessions were by Slobo, Shayne and Atley.

(will add more comments and some pics later)

Practice run of my presentation for Orlando Code Camp 2013.

Was recently developing couple mobile apps using C# on iOS using Monotouch by Xamarin
purchased 17" MacbookPro i7 quad - upgraded memory to 16 GB and HD to 256GB SSD
Installed VM and Windows 8 including all dev tools for WinDev.

After a while I've noticed that had issue logging back in after the PC went on Sleep/Standby.
The spinning rainbow ball would not stop spinning and I would have to force full reboot.

Due to busy schedule was not able to fix the issue, until last couple of weeks.
Trip to the local Apple store later and everything cleaned up (I did backed up all my stuff)
and the issue was still there.. the test revealed that there is a problem with the memory..

FedEx-ed memory overnight to Crucial for replacement - two weeks before my talk at #OrlandoCC.
Two days later found out that it's going to be couple extra days before the memory is returned back.

Installed the old memory with the old hd and problem was gone..
Installed the old memory with new  hg and the problem was back

Called OCZ customer support and found out that I need to get "The latest HD firmware upgrade.

check out this article on how to perform it:

especially these 3 posts:
1. Instructions for creating the bootable USB drive
2. Instructions for verifying your internet connection
3. Instructions for updating the firmware on your OCZ SSD

after updating the firmware both iOS and Win 8 (in VM) the problem is gone and my PC runs very smooth.

Last nite was presenting at JAX-UX an intro to writing x-platform native apps using C# and .NET Xamarin's  MonoTouch and Mono (www.Xamarin.com).

Since it was held at JAX-UX - my emphasis was on UX, rather than on code examples.

If the world will not end on 12/21/12 - hopefully will be able to present this at JAXDUG and then we'll dive more into the code and deploying apps.

We talked about creating native apps with device-specific experiences, and how to share non-UI code across iOS, Windows 8 and Android.

Presented this talk at JaxMUG on 7/16/2012

This talk will take you step by step on a journey all the way to the Marketplace.
We covered development station requirements, differences between WP7, WP8, tablets,
devices availability, how to consume web-services, mobile ads solutions, when to go with a
paid or ads supported app, how to persist data easily and more.

Here are the slides

Presented this at JaxDUG on 4/4/2012

Here are the topics covered

- Intro to MVC Scaffolding, CodeFirst, Repository Pattern
- Customizing view and Controller Templates
- Using T4 Scafoldering Commandlets
- Packaging Custom Scaffolder
- Customizing Scaffolding Environment

Scaffolding is a way to quickly create an application layout based on data. This means there are less routine tasks that developers need to do, for example, creating your own controllers/views, CRUD methods, and validation, and more time spent on solving business problems.  Learn how to customize the scaffolding using T4 templates, so that the generated output suits the needs of your application, in case you need to regenerate the scaffolding occasionally during development.

Installed  package  EntityFramework.SqlServerCompact

and after running my project was getting this error  "The operation could not be completed. Unspecified error"

Two ways to fix this:
1. Install "Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Tools for SQL Server Compact 4" - Web Platforms Installer
2. Download directly offline installer from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=212219

After running it works great

Their site is www.orlandocodecamp.com

This year's camp was held at Seminole State College.

It was well worth it.. Took a chance at going.. by getting up at 5am and driving from Jax to
Sanford for 2+hr..
Run into some old friends and bunch of new ones.

Coders are not really good at networking.. but they sure did show up.. attendance was
solid 500+ geeks and some sessions were standing room only.

MVP John Papa had the room packed out on his every session.

Really enjoyed great and inspiring WP7 presentations by MVP Atley Hunter from Canada..

And of course the MVP legend Joe Healy was everywhere encouraging and promoting cool stuff, hopefully we'll get him back to present at JaxDUG and/or bring back Microsoft workshops to Jax area.
