Integrating the BizTalk Orchestration Profiler into your MsBuild Process
I have been wanting to include the BizTalk orchestration profiler into our build process for a while and have eventually got around to doing it. Like some of the other recent posts ive produced a simple example demonstrating this. I will begin by discussing the example on how to use the task and then follow this with some comments on the task itself. Using the BizTalk Orchestration Profiler MsBuild Task The idea of the BizTalk Orchestration Profiler Task is that when my build script has ran the BizUnit ......

Configuring Binding Files for BizTalk
Problem In all BizTalk projects you come across the old problem of configuration and how to manage the environmental settings when taking your solution from development to other environments. The common scenario is, I work with my binding file and get my solution build and tested etc and then I take it to the testing environments or production and I need to have a new binding file or I need to manually change the settings for ports etc. Obviously any manual steps are usually error prone so this never ......

Where have the microsoft sdc msbuild tasks gone?
I was looking for the Microsoft Enterprise Solutions Build Framework or Microsoft.Sdc build tasks as it is sometimes known. if you google it most of the links point to gotdotnet. I did a search on codeplex and initially didnt find it because i was looking for the wrong name. Eventually i found it, and if anyone needs it it is located at http://www.codeplex.com/sdc... A failure occurred when loading the configuration XML DOM
I came across a new error message I havent seen before today so blogging about it incase anyone else happens to come across it. The scenario was: 1. my orchestration sent a message to the send port 2. The send port would retry and then suspend with the following error message (which was also written to the event log) "A failure occurred when loading the configuration XML DOM." As sometimes happens the error message is not that clear and there wasnt anything on google about it. The cause of the problem ......

BizTalk Cross Referencing Tool
Following on from my post from months ago about patterns for Cross Reference Data mapping on BizTalk projects http://geekswithblogs.net/m... I have created a tool which is available on CodePlex to help with the design and implementation of these mappings. It can use either inline C# or BizTalk Cross Referencing to implement the mappings. If you want to find out more check out the following link: http://www.codeplex.com/Biz... Its my first shot at an ......

Generating the C# to call BizUnit Tests
I'm not sure about anyone else but when I come across something that is boring and repetitive I usually get around to doing some tool that minimizes the amount of time I spend doing it. In this case the task that is boring me is writing the repetitive C# code to call BizUnit to make it run your tests. I'm sure there are lots of different ways you could do this but one day when I was stuck waiting for a while at the airport I got bored and decided to do something to stop me having to do this. Aim ......

Problem resuming an orchestration with WMI
Problem I recently had to make a change to one of out orchestrations on a BizTalk project. The change was that we needed to in a certain case suspend the long running orchestration and raise an event which would be handled by MOM. This would cause an alert to an administrator who would check out what we think could be a potential error condition. When the administrator had checked everything was ok he/she would use the instance id to find the orchestration via the group hub and resume it. This is ......

Problem Enlisting Send Port
Problem I came across the following problem the other day. I had setup a send port to pick up messages from the messagebox. I then enlisted and started it. All good so far. To ensure this port was setup as part of the build I exported the bindings. At this point I need to mention a little about the build process for our solution. On the project we have a large number of test environments so in order to simplify the management of config settings between environments the solution contains a custom ......

Problem with BizTalk one way web service
Problem We have a BizTalk orchestration which has been published as a web service. The orchestration has a one way recieve port which results in a web service being generated which contains a method with a void return type. The behaviour we experienced was that on occasion the service was called by a client which was returned an http 202 return code and indicated that the message had been accepted. The problem how ever was that the message hadnt made it to the message box. An example of this was ......
