My name is Mike, and I am a Google user.á When you go up to the MS campus in Redmond, that is one of the last things you want to say, but honestly I was not willing to give up Google Desktop Search.á That is until I stumbled across a tool called Windows Desktop Search. To quote a well known philosopher, this tool is "freaking sweet!" (ok, so I quoted Peter Griffin) The UI kicks Google's butt and WDS basically gives all of the niceness of Vista's search capabilities in your current Windows XP installation. You can search all of your documents, source code files, emails and even your chat logs (no one saves those logs, right!?!?). When WDS installs it puts a little search text box on the Windows task bar. After you get the results of your search, you can filter by the type of file and preview documents to make your search much more efficient. Here is shot of the search screen: I can now say my Google addiction is in full remission, thanks to Windows Desktop Search! Happy Coding!
