I recently built a couple of external drives for my laptop.  It all started when I decided to replace my 60gig 5400rpm drive in my HP Pavillion ZT3000 with a 7200rpm drive.  In doing so, I was left with the spare 5400rpm 60gig drive so I sought out a nice casing to build an external drive.  I liked it so much, I bought another 7200rpm 60gig drive and built another external.  These are so small, that I carry both around in my laptop bag.

The only 7200rpm 2.5“ drive which goes up to 60 gig is by Hitachi and is available from www.zipzoomfly.com. - http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=100519-1

The casing I used is available from the CompUSA website, but only if you search for the SKU directly (306130) - http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=306130

This is nearly impossible to search for in the site and I actually had to google to this CompUSA address.  There are several 2.5“ enclosures on their site, but I particularly like this only because of its tiny footprint.  It also comes with a leather carrying case.  The drive enclosure is USB 2.0 and powered by USB.  The 2.5“ hard drive screws right into the casing with the world's smallest screws so be careful not to loose them.

Virtual PC is known to operate much faster when its images are on an external drive - this is a great solution for just that.
