Thanks to Scott Greenberger for the name of my blog. It seems that being Cuban has a reputation that preceeds itself wherever you go.
After going through some code that I found (written by someone else) I was forced to implemente the cataloging of addional patterns, including:
- the "dll-hell-returns" patern
- the "abandon-all-hope-ye-who-enters-here" pattern
- the "all-the-kings-horses" pattern
- the "kill-me-now" method.
Those of you who program webcontrols, or winform controls for that matter, probably now this:
You can decorate your custom properties with the Category and Description attributes to determine where in the property browser they appear, and what the description displayed at the bottom of the property browser is.
Sounds great right? Well, don't misspell your category names. It Visual Studio cannot find the category you specified as one of the categories the control will inherently have, it will simply add it to the property browser. I'm notorious for mispelling “Appearance”, simply from fast typing. So it's always amusing to see my property browser with two categories, “Appearance” and “Apperance”.
Though this blog is new as of November 2004, I've had a blog for quite a while. I am not planning to move everything over, though I've reposted a couple of items I thought were worth while. My old blog will eventually be phased out since I rather be on an aggregator like this one. The address to the old blog is http://www.infotekcg.com/blog
