Microsoft .NET Framework - Application Development Foundation Exam 70-536

After 2 months of studying, I took the MCTS test today. I passed! Barely :D Let's just say that if I had missed one more question, I would've probably failed. That test definately kicked my butt. It was much harder than I  had anticipated.

I prepared for the test by going through the Microsoft MCTS book a couple of times. I then went through the review questions and took the practice tests multiple times until I memorized all the questions.

The actual test consisted of 40 multiple choice questions, the passing score was 700 out of 1000, and you have 2 hours to finish the test. Most of the questions consisted of identifying correct code samples. The question would state the purpose of the code, and you would have to choose the correct code snippet. What made these questions difficult for me was the fact that most of these code snippets were code that I didn't see in the book or the practice tests. Many of the code snippets used obscure properties and constructors overloads that I had no clue about.

So I ended up spending a lot of time re-reading the questions and going through the possible answers in order to weed out some of the options through a process of elimination before making educated guesses. If I had to re-take the test, I probably would read the MSDN documents online a bit more. I probably would also work through the code samples a bit more. So now on to the next exam...
