Mobile Software Development - The Future

I recently bought the Blackberry 8707v and have been discovering a number of features as i was playing around with it.

The idea of software development was prime, and i started looking for the SDK. I noticed that the developer network for Blackberry is very small and there is several limitations for developers to extend the platform and modify existing functionality.

I'm now downloading the Adroid SDK from google so i can play around with it . I can see the future "Mobile OS battle" between iPhone, gPhone, SIM and Windows Mobile.

I have not yet come across  opensource applications for Blackberry. I will also make sure my applications i will develop will be accessible free with source.

Just curious - did you ever consider the Windows Mobile devices? I've had a look at Android and wasn't too fond of it at first, though I'm going to give it another shot.

I have not yet given a good thought at Windows Mobile Devices. I only had a look at a few which seem quite good too. I will still go ahead and sink my hands into Java with focus on Blackberry.

My aim is to see how i can develop for the Blackberry platform and have my software as opensource.
