Am I the only one who thinks it an odd combo that the latest security updates for the Java Runtime Environment include the option to install the new Bing Toolbar for Internet Explorer? Oh and as an added bonus - right after that option screen is an add for Open Office. Just curious....oh and hi again, it's been a while!

Get Fit in February Challenge

Here's my first blog entry concerning the challenge. I'm starting the challenge at 210 lbs...yeah I ended up putting on some of what I lost last year after giving up soda completely. I was down to 195 for a while but I guess the holidays and then not really paying attention let things creep back up on me. So one goal for this challenge is to get back to that weight level again.

I'm also starting up the 100 push ups challenge again - and this time have 4 people in my office plus my neighbor joining me on the challenge. My initial test the other night was 43 - I could have probably done more but just was feeling lazy at that point. Either way it's a good starting point because rather than the full 6 week program I'm going to start off at Week 3 and try to complete it during the month of February!

The other day I blogged about Server Quest which is a little game Microsoft has put out to shine a spotlight on the I.T. Pro. Having played it for a bit tonight I have to say it's a crazy mix of old school graphical gaming, think something along the lines of an I.T. Themed "Maniac Mansion" for those who may remember that one :)

Anyways it's full of some subtle references to gaming from the old days, and it's a neat way to pass some time. If you never played any of those old games, you may not like it - fair warning.

Experimenting with GPS programming...

Since my Tilt has an integrated GPS I've been anxious to try development with it. I've started now by converting the GPS helper that comes with the Windows Mobile 6 SDK from c# to VB.NET and working with that. I've noticed (like many other VB developers) that more and more examples are not being done in VB so this is my little part toward making spreading VB.NET to the mobile world...since especially in Windows Mobile most examples are either c# or c++. Eventually I'd like to use this little app on my phone to finally settle an argument with Bill about which way is a longer walk from the Silvercloud Inn to Bldg 40 :)
