Over the past couple of years I've had a few websites set up on GoDaddy. Overall it's been a pretty good experience. But there is one word of warning that I should give about their dedicated services. About a month ago they changed what I thought was my static IP address to something completely different! So a bunch of names I had pointed to that IP completely broke. And all this time, for 23 months, I was paying $3 a month for this IP. If I did an nslookup on their name that was tied with this so-called static IP, it always brought back 126.96.36.199. But apparently all along I had been paying for 188.8.131.52, even though they never informed me of this. Searching through my email and on the control panel on their website, I never got any indication that this was my dedicated IP.
After a quick call to sort things out, the support staff agreed that the issue was on their side, but were unable to credit my account the $70 I've spent for the service. So long story short: it's easy to get domain names and host stuff on GoDaddy, but I wouldn't trust a static IP from them.
