Is it just me or is the DefaultViewModel property in the LayoutAwarePage the devil? What do you think of using a Map/Dictionary for a ViewModel?

I was thinking of creating my own LayoutAwarePage using the code from the original, sans the DefaultViewModel property. (I'm creating templates for my company.)
