IISRESET on remote machine...

Ever wondered how to reset IIS on a remote (local network) machine?

Pop open the command prompt, and type:

iisreset <machine_name>

That's all.

Thanks for the info. I've recently been told by an MS consultant that as a best practice you should use iisreset /noforce which allows certain processes to finish rather than doing a hard reset without the /noforce switch.

I believe you can also use this switch when resetting IIS on remote machines as well.

If the machine is not on a local network, is it possible to do this with an IP address instead?

For those of you looking for a way to impersonate, this works a treat:

runas /noprofile /netonly /user:<Username>@<Domain> "iisreset <Machine Name>"
