What a wonderful geek morning! First, Stefano Demiliani directs me to Spymac's free 1GB email account (both POP3 and webmail access), 250 MB picture storage, 100 MB web storage, a blog, and FTP access. What's the catch? According to their website, Spymac has four main sources of revenue: auctions, shopping (via branding), web hosting, and advertisements. I browsed a couple of Spymac-hosted blogs and it looks like banner ads similiar to Blogger appear at the top of your blog, picture gallery, etc. However, Spymac's mail “does not include keyword scanning for search and has no advertising.“ ...unlike the “soon to be launched“ Google GMail.
The second item that tickled my geek gene? I downloaded the latest RssBandit Beta binary and I love it. All enhanced Xml, Xslt, and Atom support aside, the ability to determine which “alerts“ to display in the taskbar is my favorite new feature.
