Google Checkout it is (rumoured name Gbuy) now live

  Google Checkout announced on Google Blogs

The much anticipated payment system from Google (rumoured name Gbuy) is now live. Here is a list of some of the stores taking part. It will be interesting to see how Google Checkout will compete with the likes of PayPal.

eBay bans Google Checkout

eBay states that Google Checkout lacks a track record as a secure and reliable consumer payment service. See more on this vnunet news article.

eBay has updated their "Accepted Payments Policy" listing Google Checkout as one of the Payment Services not permitted on eBay.

Vincent Ferrari - An AOL victim

I've heard about this story for a while but have only just seen the actual call that took place here:

...pretty shocking I must say. I'm sure AOL has contributed plenty to the introduction of the internet to the average joe user and is a factor that resulted in the widespread use of internet globally today. However from a technical user perspective I have never liked the way AOL marketed themselves through their mass mailing of CDs and 'in your face' adverts.

Bill Gates strategy shifts to giving away money
It official, Microsoft Announces Plans for July 2008 Transition for Bill Gates. Bill is transitioning out of his full time role at Microsoft to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Looks like Ray Ozzie will take over his role, this is very positive for Microsoft as new leaders will provide fresh ideas, innovation and inspiration for the company.
