An Archived Managed World This blog has moved to http://www.managed-world.com/blog

I should have blogged about this one I first heard about it but I was a little skeptical and wanted to see it be released first. And then I go and forget about :p. Anyways, there is a professional game that was developed in C# that has just been released: Arena Wars. I'm sure there have been other attempts, but this is the first I noticed that even had a write up (aka article) in Game Developer Magazine. Way cool! The screens look great and I'm sure I will be trying it out sometime in the near future.

Check it out!

Is it any good? I'm getting the demo very slowwwwly. If it is, hopefully this will change some attitudes regarding C#.

I'm honestly not sure since I haven't played the game yet. Even when I do play it, it doesn't sound like my "type" of game. However, if the game is beautiful and runs well, I think it is a success for C#. If the game isn't good itself but the technological execution *is* good, I think that's also a win for C#. Good gameplay can be accomplished in any language. The biggest question I see people ask is whether C# is capable of running a technologically demanding game.

# Arena Wars: First Impressions

Thanks to Jason Olson and Robert Scoble, who pointed out a new 3D strategy game called Arena Wars. What’s really notable is that this game was written in C#. Here are my first impressions of the demo.

Looks really cool, impressed by graphics they're showing, still have to try it out, would be great to look at the code(if they release it later) and see if it's all "managed" and how did it all work out...

Hi, I am the developer of this game and you can ask any questions in our ArenaWars.net boards, I will be happy to answer :)

Hey Abi, thanks for the post :). I can't tell you how absolutely ecstatic I am about the game, especially being such a proponent of C# and game development :). Keep up the great work!
