An Archived Managed World This blog has moved to http://www.managed-world.com/blog

Man, I'm going to be showing my true geek colors here. In an effort to be more “accountable” to all of you interested in my game development series of articles (and to log what I've been doing for myself), I am going to be writing up “.plan” posts where I will update my progress on the game that I'm writing for the new game development series. These .plans will not be syndicated on the Geekswithblogs feed or on my main feed (although they will be on my homepage)  [UPDATE: On some good advice from Donavon, I will be including the plan posts in my feed so that some of you don't have to subscribe to yet another feed. If you don't wish to read the .plan updates, just don't read them :P]. Thanks and  please enjoy!

P.S. And no, I can't lie and truthfully say that this wasn't inspired by John Carmack and his plan files. :D

Okay, but why don't you just update here? Blather on! Nobody's reading your feed against his/her will.

I'd like to know what you're up to, and no offense but I'd rather not have to have two RSS feeds on you, personally. ;-)

(As long as we don't get into those old .plan updates like, "Man, I'm hungry. I think I'll go get some Cheetos out of the snack machine. These Doritos are really stale.")

Oh I see, you just added a category. I should read more carefully... <blom>

Well, even though it is just an added category, it still wasn't syndicated on my main feed. So you would have had to subscribe to two different feeds. I have included the .plan updates on my main feed now, I am just prefixing the post titles with ".plan - " so people that don't wish to read them can just ignore them. Thanks for the advice Donavon!!

Good luck with your game engine! Here;s a nifty article about searching for plug-ins at runtime. This isn't the best place to post this but comments are turned off for the .plan post.

Thanks for the link Catatonic! I totally forgot about the unloading issues when loading into the current app domain. Well, I better correct that right away :).

Oh yeah, and comments are turned off on the .plan posts on purpose. I figured for those posts, I'm just going to have them be one-way communication (basically just me spouting off about the things I've gotten done). If anyone wants to contact me about an issue in a .plan, I figure they can probably use the contact form. Just my $0.02 though.
