Ran across this the other day. Thought it was rather interesting. Brings some of the hype you hear about certain MMO’s into perspective, while affirming that of others. Bruce Sterling Woodcock compiles this data

Okay, after much delay, I’ve released Version 18.0 of my data. The update is not everything I wanted it to be, but it updates several subscription numbers and adds those of the French MMOG Dofus. My current issue for my next update is how to treat the many Asian MMOGs (mostly in China) for which I have data for peak concurrent users, but not “subscribers” per se. I could add a separate chart for them, tracking just PCU, but then they would not be included in worldwide data along with competing games like Lineage and World of Warcraft. On the other hand, I could add them to the charts representing a sort-of “minimum” level of subscriptions, but those of you who are interested primarily in the North American market may find that distracting. I know ideally each MMOG would be broken down by region, but in most cases I just don’t have that data, so I’m left with the option of throwing all the MMOGs together and doing the best I can, or separating out (perhaps unfairly) those MMOGs for which I only have concurrent user data. I would appreciate any feedback readers of the site want to offer on this subject, as I can’t please everyone.
