Google Pagerank and Geekswithblogs

Yesterday my blog recieved 500+ hits…   this turned out to be people looking for information on why msn is down.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=msn+is+down&meta=

My blog page from yesterday appears as the second or thind link.

Same happes if you search for “ "rpc server is unavailable" firewall “http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22rpc+server+is+unavailable%22+firewall&btnG=Search&meta=

I never really realised this, but the reason my insignificant blog ranks so highly is the way Pagerank looks at links..  loads of people link to a number of very well read blogs by people here at geekswithblogs.net, and the result is that all our blogs on this domain are being ranked higher.

It also demonstrates the extent people rely on Search engines for almost anything. They could have gone to the msn messenger website.

Hassan,

No, actually... I tried to go to the msn messenger website while MSN IM was down. I recieved a very large ASP.NET error message on the screen, and no information as to why it was down. I'm sure a lot of other people recieved the same results and then google'd it to end up on this page. :)
