Windows Users Suck

Backup Brain

I found myself identifying strongly with this post.

And I cracked up at Dori's analogy(!) of lack of Windows security (on most people's pc's at least):

Dan:

"I'd be happy to be the "yes, he looks like an innocent grandfather, but leaving an unsecured Windows machine attached directly to the net is like waving a shotgun around in Macy's; this monster needs to be put away!" quote source for the media coverage."

Dori:

"Dan, I don't think that Grandpa is waving a shotgun around Macy's. I think that he's leaving the shotgun out on his front porch. And every morning, when he gets up and goes out, he looks surprised that it's out of ammo, and then he reloads it. The next day, the same thing. And the day after that, and after that, etc.

You folks helping your friends and relations aren't helping anyone. Please, STOP telling him that his shotgun is okay on the porch, and that it's normal to have to buy ammo in such large quantities. Tell him that the shotgun is a danger to himself and others, and to put it away so it isn't accessible to the public."
