Boastings of a New Daddy

GavWk2_(28)Announcing to the world the birth of my son, Gavin.  He's a big boy; at 9 lbs., 10.2 oz. it looks like we might have a little linebacker on our hands...hopefully we'll be able to keep food in the house!

Being a new dad, I was more than a little apprehensive when we took him home from the hospital - truthfully, I thought it was morally irresponsible of the hospital staff to trust us on our own!  But everything's been going pretty good and he's a great little guy.

Here's to parenthood...

Welcome to my world. I don't program all night any more but you will love it when you first hear his cute little laugh. Hard work but worth it. 2/19/2008 4:19 PM | technodrone

Yeah, he's quite the little tike - I can already tell I'm going to be a sucker. Anytime he grins or makes a little face my heart melts. 2/19/2008 4:26 PM | Jerod Crump

Congratulations! Kids are a challenge but they're great! I've got a 7 yr old girl and my son is going to be 3 soon - and I can totally relate to what you felt about the first time you bring your own child home - was a shocker for me too, especially since for that first night my daughter was home with us she literally cried the entire night (8PM to 6AM) for no particular reason at all. Thankfully that was her little joke on us, because afterwards we were blessed with a child who pretty much slept through the night! 2/20/2008 5:48 AM | Lou

Thanks! That's so funny you mention the "first night home". He cried (or should I say screamed) non-stop from 7pm until about 7am...so much the dog went and hid in the other end of the house. But after that first night, he's been a VERY content little guy. I think the problem was the hospital said only to feed him every 3-4 hours but the pediatrician said to feed him when he's hungry...made all the difference. The things you learn when you're a first-time parent. 2/20/2008 10:02 AM | Jerod Crump
