My Opinion on Chrome

I like it.

I have read a few posts now that say that it sucks, but I don't mind leaving my comfort zone. A lot of the posts I read summarize it as one of the following:

  • It's not Firefox
  • It's not Internet Explorer
  • It's not Opera
  • It's not Safari
  • It's not Lynx
  • <insert current browser here>

They then go on ad nauseam about how it compares to the others in terms of features and performance. Firstly, if you want the features of that browser, rather stay with it: instead of trying to fake interest (or intellect I might add) in new trends. These posters remind me of Reinhardt on Rent-A-Coder.

Firstly, it is BETA 1: don't expect too much: things can only get better. The results of their tests are indicate that it is marginally worse than <some fanboy's browser>. I think I am going to wait for RC to make judgements on performance.

Secondly, they don't know what they are talking about - a few I read stipulated "without plugin support how is flash going to work," erm, flash works fine in mine: I played LineRider a few minutes ago.

Sigh, I remember the good ol' days when everyone said Firefox sucked. I am going to sit with an open mind and wait to see what happens but so far I am most impressed with the fresh air that Google have let in.
