Introduction

Welcome to my blog! This is my first blog, so I’m learning as I go. I’m excited though. Let’s get started with some background on me. I started down the IT road as a QA tester for a large financial firm. At the time I was in the middle of getting my BS degree and wanted to get my hands dirty a bit. So I moved to a developer role in the same company. I was working on the Siebel CRM implementation for said company and did that for about a year. I wanted to get into some real-deal coding (building from scratch) and so I switched jobs last year. At my new job, I am building apps from scratch using .NET technologies. My current team is small and consists of only me and one other developer along with our manager. For a while it was just me. Therefore, I hold sway over design decisions that at a large company would be handed down from architects. This means that I have to learn new things at an incredible pace and as I learn them, I hope to share them with you. My first major .NET project is a custom ERP system built with C# and WPF using the MVVM design pattern. The first time I have done any of these. I never even heard of MVVM beforehand. So I figure some of the bumps and bruises as well as good things that I’ve learned might help some young developers out. The main audience I am targeting for this blog is any developer with less than 2-3 years of real development experience or those who are just starting out (maybe fresh from college). I’ll provide my own viewpoints on things as well as share links to other cool blogs and good books for newbies to read. I hope you enjoy my blog and let me know if there are any topics you want me to cover!
