Compaq Customer Service

Part I
So, this is a good story. My father-in-law bought a Compaq Presario about two months ago and has all ready had a major issue with it. Saturday evening, he shut down the pc and Saturday night he booted it up again. The 'System Restore' screen came up and he was unable to get past the screen. He was willing to restore the pc since it is fairly new and he just uses it for games. Anywhoo, he brought it over for me to look at. I tried a new hard drive, cables, etc, etc. Finally, I started a live chat with a customer service rep. It took a little over an hour but finally we were in agreement that the pc had a major hardware problem and needed to be returned/fixed/whatever. So, when I gave him the address, the system refused it. My in-laws live so far back in the woods that the USPS actually hires contract drivers to maintain the routes. Still no problem, right? I will just ship it to my address and I will take care of it. Nope. The customer support rep gives me a phone number and is gone. No wait for a reply. I was irritated to say the least.

Part II
So, I call the number he sends me via email and go through the entire process again. I ask 'Do you have access to the chat transcript?'. Of course, she says 'No.' So I say, 'Can I send you the transcript?' and she says 'No.' So, 90 minutes later she agrees that the pc obviously has a problem. And what does she tell me? Take it back to the vendor. I couldn't believe it. So, I ask my father-in-law 'Do you have the reciept?' and he says 'No.' I tell the csr that and she says no problem, take it back to them and they will give you your money back or replace the pc. I called the local Wal-Mart this morning and they said that a reciept would be required. I am shocked at this level of customer service. I don't understand the reasoning. At one point, she asked me to restore the pc and I did. When we rebooted it took 20 minutes to get into the bios. It doesn't take a genious to see that at that point it was obviously a hardware problem that the company would have to solve. I am sure that Compaq has some really good employees but why do I always get stuck with the turds?

This is why I buy only from Dell. I know others have had uncomfortable experiences with Dell also but not me. Until I do, I will not send my business anywhere else. I am ordering my father-in-law a Dell today, have it shipped to him, and I will take care of dealing with Compaq.

I have a Compaq Presario 2200, and have purchased several aircards from Verizon, but non are compatible. It's really becoming a problem because I need it for work. Is there a aircard that will work for my laptop.

Gravatar hello. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH QUICKTIME INFECTING MY ITUNE BEING THE DFAULT SYSTEM FOR ITUNES. I CALLED YOUR SUPPORT PLUS $59.99 FOR 30 MINUTES OF LOUSY SERVICE WHICH IS WORSE THAN IT WAS. HALF THE TIME I COULDNT UNDERSTAND THE PERSON ON THE OTHER SIDE WITH AN AMERICAN NAME WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS WORLD!! CANT WE SPEAK TO ANYBODY THAT SPEAKS CLEAR ENGLISH FOR 30 MINUTES THAT COST A RIDICULOUS $59.99 IT EVEN WIPED OUT ONE OF MY INTERNET SITES. WHAT DO I DO NOW? Gravatar I have been having bad problems with my compaq presario.200.which is not 1 yaer old I dont think I was told by 2verizon.and by msn.that I had over 4.00 virus/bugs.and.that there was no way anyone could have that many in this time.I did not get this at a cheap price.I have hadsymantic protection.I do not open attachments.I was told that the person I spoke with yesterday was going to get rid of all the virus.msn and verizon informed me this had to have been bought with these virus.it came from you like this.I was told the man would put mccaffee on it.cost$104. why should I have to pay for something that was infected when bought?I have run spybot just the past 2 days.plus.when I purchased my computer I was supposed to have a $100 rebate.never recieved this.my case number.7329248694. I have already contacted my State Atty.Gen. I have spent over and hour trying to get some assistance from H?P and Compaq. No luck. I just want to know how I can transfer data from my older computer to my new Compaq Presatio 7600. I cannot get to my paperwork about this computer because I am getting ready to move and it is all packed. Help someone. Gravatar My first PC was a Gateway, it was great, no proublems nad then I started burning a lot of music. so it was time to buy a second PC, so after checking out the sales I bought a new "COMPAQ PRESARIO" bought it from a "Office Depot" is silverthorn, Colorado. I bought it in the 3rd week of august, I was going to Florida the 2nd week of Sept. I took the new PC to Florida to help rebuild after the hurricaines of 2004/2005. I was there for just under 3 months and came back to Colorado Dec. 6th 2004. my 4 month old PC started having proublems starting up.

It finially stopped working and I took it to "BEST BUY" and had their "GEEK SQUAD" work on it........they said that it had a faulty hard drive from the factory..........they couldn't retrive any info, files, music, and the worst "ALL OF MY PICTURES" I told them that the PC wasn't even 6 months old, they called back and told me that it wasn't covered under warranty. that it was over the first of January 2005...........they told me that the PC was over a year old. IT WASN'T COVERED..........THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS CHEEPER TO JUSTY BUY A NEW PC....
(ALL BECOUSE i DIDN'T HAVE THE RECEIPT)
I told them that I regestured my pc when I got it home...........still no good COMPAQ wasn't going to honor a PC that was just used for 4 months........it was built in January of 2004 and bought sept of 2004, but the warranty was just good through jan, 2005..........So, like a good trained little mouse I bought a new COMPAQ.......
Today I was out in my garage cleaning and I came accross my old:

Covered in dust and it just set me off.
its time to stand up and be counted. then I tried to contact customer service and they want to charge you by the minute.........
$2.99-$3.99 a minute.................
well.... you can just suck my Compaq!!!

I guess that I will just contact the local TV station that has a man called "Tom Martino". he goes out and help's the little guy like me who has been screwed over by BIG CORP'S and gives them all this negitive reporting over the evening news reports.........

bought used last week.When i turn the computer on it reads Invalid Systen disk replace the disk and then press any key. I donot understand what the disk is or where to get one can you help. THANK YOU .

Gravatar When I go into Sounds and Devices, I get a message that there is no Audio Device detected on this computer. Gravatar I BOUGHT A COMPAQ LAPTOP 6 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE MADE ATTEMPTS TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE CONCERNING THE RECENT INABILITY TO GET ON THE INTERNET. I REFUSE TO PAY BY THE MINUTE FOR YOUR OPINION. So i tried using the recovery disk, but i guess it doesnt work. It keeps saying "pls. contact you technical support". not one of them knows english that well or how to do tech support. in the middle of my hour call the c.s.rep. is having me dismantle the computer (take it apart), until the call timed out i got disconnected, while the computer is in pieces. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE.
of course office depot wants nothing to do with me, after spending 800 in august.
like the rest of you i dont have time for this. i spent 2 hours a month ago trying to get the router working, no c.s.rep at compaq could do anything for that. verizon my service provider was great, that go me online and got many of my perif working including router/wireless.

# Auto shut down problems

I was told that it is on a CD that i have recieve with the computer.Unfortunatly it got lost ( the CD). What can be done to retrieve my product key number.

I Purchased a Laptop (Compaq Presario, Model: 3777TU with serial no 2CE8080F7V hp) dated 15/04/2008 from Allahabad 211001, U.P.

A Big Black Spot Developed on the Screen (dated: 28/06/2008).

The same was complained from where we purchased it.
Since the laptop developed a major fault, kindly replace the system and oblige us.

The above system is under warranty period.

Please Attend.

Gravatar I hava compacq leptop( purchase Month : Nov 2007). In that leptop two sound speaker are there. But in the left speaker is stop working and right speaker is all right. Now when i contect in your service station and your customer care officer told me that IT IS WINDOWS PROBLE SO I WANT FORMET YOUR LEPTOP. I dont think so when one speaker is stop working than its not windows problem. I surpricely fill that He doesnt want to order new parts.

Kindly help me in to this matter
