Book Review: The 2nd Coming of Steve Jobs

The 2nd Coming of Steve by Alan Deutschman is an excellent read. There are so many tragic ties, near misses, and broken friendships. I guess it is always the case in business but it is a near miracle that we are not looking at a very different world and we are not all using the NeXT operating system and not Windows today. How different would that be? Apple is not exactly 'developer-friendly' as far as I know. The book chronicles the early and late days of Apple, NeXT, and Pixar and Jobs' role in each. What an ego-maniac. I don't think I could work for Jobs. I don't have the tolerance for ego-tism on the scale of Jobs. Still, it is often very funny when it happens to others, eh?

I give the book 4.5 out of 5. Pick the book up when you can, it is good on many different levels and should appeal to business people, developers, or hobbyists.
