Microsoft Marketing
I was talking to a few guys that I work with at
RamSafe
today and they did not know that Yukon would allow you to write stored procedures in C# or VB.NET. I felt that this was common knowledge but I guess not! We are Microsoft Partners and they did not know... I know that at this point the information is there for people who seek it but at what point will Microsoft start marketing this? I see parts of our business that could be made better with BizTalk, also, but it is too soon for me to start making suggestions of that magnitude. I have only been with the company for a few weeks now and that type of change will require credibility. Anyway, when is the decision made at Microsoft to push their technologies and when to let it sit? I think that BizTalk 2004 may be one of the best things going at Microsoft right now after VS.NET 2003 and Whidbey. And just how the hell did BizTalk fall out of the Microsoft .NET as a Web Services ONLY platform stack? Please don't send me email. I know that VS.NET is 1000 things besides web services but from a consumer standpoint, the marketing message is that .NET is about web services.

re: Microsoft Marketing
Yukon hasn't even started it's beta cycle yet which means that it's still a moving target. Functionality comes and goes during this pre-beta stage. Don't forget that many of us are way more plugged in than the average folks in this business.
Also, Carl Franklin knows his stuff. You can be sure that what you heard was as close to the truth as is possible these days. Until marketing rewrites it of course :-)
