What happens? The page loads, but the controls are disabled by default. In order to activate them, the user must click on them first.

Bad for advertisers? Yep. Bad for CMS/eCommerce vendors that rely on ActiveX controls? Yep. Bad for media sites? You bet. Bad for Adobe? Of course.

Really, there's no good side here. Except that you've got two months to fix your sites. Like you didn't have anything better to do anyway. Enjoy."

Just try this:

Copy any text by ctrl+c
Click the Link: http://www.friendlycanadian.com/applications/clipboard.htm
You will see the text you copied on the Screen which was accessed by this web page.

A malicious websites can easily steal sensitive data (like passwords, creditcard numbers, PIN etc.) stored in your clipboard while surfing the web. To prevent this you should change the security setting Allow paste operations via script for at least the Internet Zone in Internet Explorer to Prompt. Per default this setting is set to Enabled.

Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar (First Post)

I just downloaded the new Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar Beta - and I'm lovin' it! It looks very much like the plug-in I've had for FireFox for quite a while now, but it rocks to have it for IE too.

Also, this is my first post at geekswithblogs, where I'll be posting technical stuff from now on. I have another blog at http://jannikanker.blogspot.com/, where I'll be posting the more personal (leisure time) stuff. As of now, it's still stuffed with tech, but that ends now ;-)

Oh, and a very short introduction to me: I'm a web developer at a ~2500 employees non-IT company in Denmark. Our "web department" is located inside the Marketing dept. and consists of two guys including me. We maintain our intranet, a SharePoint Portal Server 2001 installation, as well as a list of websites hosted on an MCMS 2002 server. Occasionally I get to do some WinForms, Windows services and other stuff, but my main focus (hence my job title) is ASP.NET.

bodytag - web programming explorations is a great website when you need a bit (or a lot) of inspiration. I can't remember how I got there, but I surely stayed for a while!

I'm mostly (if not only) interested in the DHTML or JS bits, so those are the only ones I can comment on. When I saw the code for the 3Dballs example, it seemed very simple. And yet the effect is so striking.

Me like!!!

Some interesting observations on the future of client-side scripting. I can only agree that for instance ASP.NET is leaning towards server-side processing (almost as if it's "recommended"). Yes, there are plenty of options for rich client development, but is it easy? Is it intuitive? Not for me, having an ASP 3.0 background. Take a look, cross your fingers and hope for a "rich client friendly" ASP.NET 3.0...
