The (MS) Content Management Server Team is blogging!

http://blogs.msdn.com/wcm/ will be the place to be if you are interested in the so-called vNext of MCMS. The team refers to it as "Web Content Management in Office 12". Nice codename, guys ;-)

I'm sure that most of you know this already, but the next version of MCMS will be part of an Office "12" range of servers. It will be a merging of Sharepoint and MCMS technologies, which sounds quite promising. Anyhoo, the above mentioned blog is a definite must-read for an MCMS and Sharepoint developer like me:

"I'm sure there are many questions out there, both from customers and users of the current Content Managment Server 2002 product and from audiences interested in Sharepoint technologies. We'll make an attempt at providing both overviews and drilldowns on those topics that caused the longest and toughest discussions as well as on the topics that are the most critical (in our humble opinions) to get clarity around IF one were to embark on deploying a website based on what we built."

It's great to know that Sharepoint and MCMS will be merging in Office 12.

When you talk about the merger of MCMS and Sharepoint, do u actually mean the merger of MCMS and SPS (Sharepoint Portal Server)? That could explain why, generally if there's a mention of MCMS in a blog, invariantly, there's also a mention of SPS in that blog.

Your thoughts?

I don't know exactly how the integration will go down. I don't think it will be a full-blown merger, meaning that you can't get MCMS without SPS and vice versa (that would be silly, if you ask me). But your guess is as good as mine, so we'll just have to wait and see - and keep reading the Teams blog ;-)
