Less workarounds for 2011 and £1.14 well spent
Lately I have noticed a trend. An “issue” I have been working around for months (or sometimes years) can actually be solved really easily and often very cheaply – if I just pause for a few seconds to think about a permanent fix. Obvious really, yet my life is full of (rather pleasing) workarounds. Two FREE events: Silverlight FireStarter and using Bing with SQL Server 2008 December 2nd
I’m on holiday the 2nd of December (Its our 21st anniversary which is mind bogglingly aweseome ) so I had been rather ignoring what was going on workwise on the 2nd. My mistake as we have two cool learning opportunities. First up we have the Silverlight Firestarter. This is a free one day global, live streamed and on demand event which is being keynoted by the amazing Scott Guthrie (Well – I find him amazing) which will cover everything from the future of Silverlight to tips and tricks. Just a brief reminder that if your company makes commercial software (in other words, you don’t just develop it for your own employees use) then you should check out the FREE technical event my team is putting on next Thursday (25th Nov 2010). I will be linking up with colleagues from across Europe and the USA to make sure we can get the message around the excellent benefits of the Microsoft Platform Ready to as many ISVs* as we can during the week – plus give away some great prizes. If you are attending TechEd ......

You Have Exceeded 75% of Your Average Monthly Usage of Compute Hours
In the “bad old days” leaving unwanted Windows Azure hosted services running simply meant a big charge on your credit card. Thankfully it now simply means you get a polite email from Microsoft. P.S. I also should follow my own advice sometimes – check out Greybox :-) Dear Eric Nelson, This e-mail notification comes to you as a courtesy to update you on your Windows Azure platform usage. Our records indicate that you have exceeded 75% of your average monthly usage of compute hours during your current ......
