When you hear “DDD” what do you think of? Do you think “Domain Driven Design” or “Drop Dead Date” or perhaps even “Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane”? Well Wikipedia lists over 20 possibles but oddly enough does not list “DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper!” – which is the one I wanted to make sure you were all aware of. DDD is a series of first class community events that take place in the UK – created and delivered by UK developers for UK developers. The first event was DDD1 which was delivered in May 2005 and the most recent DDD7 was a huge success in November of 2008 (See the slides and videos for all 7). However things just keep getting better. You don’t have to wait until DDD8 to get involved as regional DDD events are currently being pulled together for Belfast (4th April ), Scotland (2nd May in Glasgow) and the South West (23rd May in Taunton) plus a web focused WebDD (18th April in Reading). The events are free, normally run on Saturdays, are great fun and are delivered by excellent speakers. Similarly fantastic is the SQLBits series of free events in the UK (SQLBits 4 is 28th March in Manchester).
I will be attending DDD South West and speaking at DDD Scotland on SQL Data Services. Hope to see you at one (or both!)
