Isn't compromise how we got where we are?
If you compromise with extremists, you just keep moving farther and farther toward what *they* want, because they don't give an inch.
And anyway, do we *really* have any centrist politicians? Or do we just have mealy-mouthed ones?
The center moves, depending on how many--and how extreme--are on each side.
