I was setting up a new development sandbox for a specific project and wanted to install the Oracle SQL Developer application but couldn't find the bits on my harddisk so I navigated to the Oracle SQL Developer web site to download version 1.0 when I noticed that the 7th November they made a beta version of Oracle SQL Developer 1.1 avaliable for download, remarkable is the fact that they call it an "Evaluation" release.
In version 1.1 there are some interesting new features:
Updated Object Navigator for improved object browsing and navigation Updated object filtering through an extended dialog Increased search capabilities Improved explain plan support Ongoing expansion of SQL*Plus support Improved data grid functionality Sortable query result headers in the data grid Improved performance Additional user preferences for controlling the SQL Developer environment Snippet management using a dialog Autotrace support Schema compare and differences Support for XML Schema Support for groups, roles, users and privileges Support for XQuery in the SQL Worksheet Support for Times Ten Import and export for Excel spreadsheets Improved Declarative Reports including: - Master/Detail reports
- Charting
- Increased right click actions
- Drill down links
Increased PL/SQL and SQL editing support, including improved parsing capabilities Additional SQL statement formatting in the SQL Worksheet File based PL/SQL support Added file browsing support PS: I love the second customer testimonial on the right [:)]
