The difference between a USA Dell XPS M1710 and a European one

The Dell XPS M1710 is propably one of the fastest (gaming) notebooks out on the market and they even have a faster graphics card. NVidia has announced the release of a new notebook GPU: the NVidia GeForce GO 7950GTX. If you live in the USA you are already able to order the Dell XPS M1710 with this new graphics card but off course as usual we Europeans will need to just wait and see.

This is something I don't understand, the difference in ugrade paths for the USA and Belgian version for the Dell XPS M1710. First of all on the US-based web site you can choose between different editions: Special Edition Formula Red and the Metallic Black. We can only order the Metallic Black.

If you configure the notebook using the American site there are so many really nice options to choose. For example we can't choose Windows XP Media Center edition as the platform. We can't choose between a 7200 rpm SATA harddisk, only the 5600 rpm version.

Then off course we have the graphics card: US citizens get to choose between a GeForce GO 7900GTX or a GeForce GO 7950GTX but I guess that we will wait until the end of stock of the GeForce GO 7950GTX before we can order a notebook packed with it.

The choice for a backpack is limited to 1 on the Belgian Dell web site whilst in the USA you can choose between 5 backpacks. For the Wi-Fi card you can choose between 3 possibilities on the US site including one based on the 802.11n draft, we can only choose the default one.

Also on the US site you can choose to have no software pre-installed like that freakin' Microsoft Works 8.5, unfortunately on the Belgian site you either have Microsoft Works installed which is included in the price <sarcasm>fantastic</sarcasm> or you need to upgrade to Office. But then again on the US site you are forced to choose between a selection of Antivirus bundles while on the Belgian site you can choose to have none installed.

Seriously Dell, I can understand why for some options the European version has to be different than the American ones (like for example Bluetooth devices) but why have two complete different web sites?
