Do not call!
So we've had a national do not call list for a while now. It seems to work pretty well too. The annoying telemarketers get farther and farther between, and you get rid of those exasperating calls. So if we've done this, why can't we have a Do not spam list? It could be a giant list of e-mails that say, you better not e-mail us, or you're going to be in big trouble. I can understand why it might not work. It'd be easy to get around any kind of punishment simply because they don't live in the same ......

Einstein's Puzzle
Today I saw this puzzle on the Internet. I love puzzles like these, which is probably why I like to program so much. It took me about 30 minutes and a couple sheets of paper to rifle through it all and get the answer. How fast can you guys get it? Comment, and I'll let you know if you're right or not. Einstein's Logic Puzzle So you want a hard brain teaser! Well, here it is. It's purported that Einstein said 98% of the world's population could not figure out this logic problem. Try your hand at it. ......

Snow Day!

I get out of work 2 hours early for a snow day! This is the first snow day I've ever gotten for work. School days, sure all the time, but never for work.

I'm liking it. I can spend my extra time coding with the newly released XNA 2.0! W00T(Newly added to the dictionary, as I'm sure you all know by now)!

WireShark

I was looking for a network packet analyzer today so that I could see what's going through the network here. I figured I would only find software packages that cost a couple 100 dollars and I might find a couple off the wall minimal freeware packages.

However, I was taken by surprise. WireShark is an amazing little application that completely open source! I love this little tool, and I'm putting it to good use as I post this.

Wednesday December 13th, 2007
This day, oh how joyous it will become. Feasts will fall down from the sky, and the sun will shine brighter than any day before it. Clouds will whisk away and bring thoughts of happiness to our minds. Happy skipping from children will falter not once, and people of all ages will sing in happiness.......... Yeah right! I get the Internet again today! I can't wait! I thought this day would be awesome. Perfect. Then I got pulled over by a cop at 8:32 AM when I'm supposed to be at work at 8:30 AM.... ......

Mr. Wizard

Around the office here I'm called Mr.Wizard because when I'm called upon I get things fixed, and quickly, often times when it seems hopeless. I always come up with a solution, whether it's a permanent fix or at least a temporary one.

What kind of office nick names, or nick names around the home, have you guys had?

Mine :

Mr. Wizard

Joyous Internet

By tomorrow night, I will have Internet at home again! I've been with out the Internet for 2 and a half weeks. That's the longest I have ever been with out Internet at home. So I'll be receiving a Fiber Optic connection from Verizon Wireless. I haven't heard much about their FiOS plans, but I'll let you guys know how it pans out.

The Drupal Project
I've done very little with Linux so I'm unfamiliar with most of it. I can maneuver around it enough to get most things installed and I understand why I'm doing what I'm asked to do. However, I'm a little disappointed now :( I just spent about an hour and a half installing apache, php, and mysql, and drupal all on a freshly installed Ubuntu 7.0.4 Install. Installation of apache, perfectly fine. Installation of php, perfectly fine. Installation of mysql, perfectly fine. Time for drupal. I started following ......

Dream Build Play 2.0
I'm confused. The warm-up challenge of the Dream Build Play contest starts December 8th. However, "This Friday, December 7th, will be your final chance to download the beta of XNA Game Studio 2.0. We are ending the beta program in preparation for our final release. Additionally, the Games for Windows - LIVE online functionality will become disabled. You will still be able to use XNA Game Studio 2.0 Beta to program System Link games, but you will not be able to log on by using a LIVE-enabled Gamertag." ......

XNA Game Studio 2.0 Dream Play Contest

It looks like there's another Dream Build Play contest coming up. The warm-up, I hear starts this weekend and it's called : Silicon Minds. Check it out.

I might get involved this time. My weekend is pretty open so far, so I should have plenty of opportunity to do it.

All of my best ideas

Does anybody else have the same problem I do? All of my best ideas come to me when I'm at work. When I can't do anything about it.

I've come up with ideas for electric cars, solar powered vehicles, real life Iron Man suits that could "potentially" work. I've come up with Game Development websites and Flash based ideas for my fiancee's photography web site.

So why is it that all of my brilliant ideas come to me when I can't do anything about it because I'm working?

A Life without Internet
Amazing things happen when the Internet dies. The dependency that I've developed on the Internet has turned out to be a monster of an addiction. I'm confident that I share this addiction with many, many others. The day after Thanksgiving my household lost Internet because the bill hadn't been paid. Comcast is asking for $600+ before it will be turned back on and so therefore, we've been slow to turn it back on. This of course includes our cable TV, telephone, and Internet which is why it's high. ......

Nintendo Wii
Yesterday morning I woke up early (considering it was weekend) to drive myself out to the nearest Best Buy. I had stopped in on Friday and was told they would 170 Wii's arriving Sunday morning. The store opened at 10:00 AM so I go there at 9:00 AM. There was already a line of about a hundred people. So, here I was standing in line, freezing, and shivering waiting for the doors to open so I can get my Wii. After 20 minutes of waiting, someone came out and announced to everyone that they would get ......

My not-so-hidden Passwords
When I took my current job, it was a quick transition. The guy I replaced was taking another job and I was allowed 1 day to get the gist of everything he did. Then he was gone. The company had very minimal amounts of documentation on anything including usernames and passwords. Nobody knew what any of them were, or what anything went to. There was only 1 IT guy at this company, and I replaced him. I had a stroke of luck though. There were several pages that I accessed for the company and they all ......
