Oblivion 360 Review and a bug in the Ulterior Motives Mages Guild Quest

First off, This game rocks. go buy it now.

My biggest annoyance is the lighting, especially when using a light spell (instead of a torch) gives everything a really ugly glow, and the “Bloom” effect is way over used.

I was playing last night, and I ran into a bug. When you go to the Count in the Ulterior Motives quest for the Mages Guild, the steward tells you to come back tommorow, and he might let you speak to the count.  I've waited several days, and he still says the same thing.  The strategy guide says he should only make me wait one day.  I'm running around doing some other stuff for a few days to see if that fixes it.  If it doesn't I will have to restore back a bit, or possibly even restart! ;(

I have seen some other minor bugs, especially in the AI, or NPC locations, where I will walk into a room, its empty, leave and come back, and there the person is (with no other entrances) Also walk into a room, and everyone is clustered together, but then they all jump away from each other suddenly when I am in the room and start their normal AI routines.

update : I ran around and did some other quests for a few game days, and when I came back, the motives quest had started working again, but there seems to be a requirement that the waiting happen either outside the castle, or outside the town, or maybe I talked to someone else, and kicked off a flag.  Anyway, there you go.

Sorry, but I don't remember the name of the quest on the top of my head. I was in a quest where I became trapped in a painting. I was helping a high elf retrieve his magical paint brush from a thief who also got into the painting and was killed by Painted Trolls,After I had retrieved the brush I went back to the NPC and gave him the brush, He was supposed to start opening a portal for us after he had got the brush but he was stuck waling in a circle telling me to wait for him to open a portal. I tried loading the quest fro man earlier part since the quest wasn't all that hard and I kept coming back to the same problem. I got so frustrated I decided to kill the NPC. It only knocked him unconscious but when He woke back up it was like I never attacked hime and he was back on normal path to opening the portal. Hope this helps.

I'd just like to confirm that Jason's methods, his attempts at finding a solution the Ulterior Motives quest's bug, work. I also ran into this bug, after which I searched the web for any information about it - as there was no doubt another individual who had experienced the same inconvenience - and this is the first page that I opened up. So if you've done as I have and discovered this page too, then you needn't worry.

All I did was fast-travel to another town, grab myself a quest (any quest), complete it (something which required that I spend more than a game day away from Skingrad), then fast-travel back to Castle Skingrad. I will note that when I talked to the NPC again after I arrived back in Skingrad, the Ulterior Motives quest wasn't selected as my current quest. None were. I don't know if that makes any different, but meh.

Anyway, hope this helped someone.

I have no problems with the waiting part but when you meet the steward and 2 necromancers near the mine and the count turnes up to help he is supposed to talk to you when you kill them all. Instead, the first time i did it he cast an invisibility spell and wandered off i suppose, the second and every other time iv tried it he just walkes back to the castle.

Have you tried doing a barrel-roll?
