Status of game development

Well, my game development has been paused for a while, since I've been dedicating a long time to work. But I'll not stop or give up, that's for sure. Tempo is now a true company, but one of our dear friends, that helped us in every step of the game development and not only is not a partner with us. Gianfranco has moved to another city, but he promissed he would keep doing the art work for our games. He is not a partner of Tempo as we thought we would be, but we'll find out a way for the game development part to still be released under Tempo name, and for Gian to still gets what he deserves.

Meanwhile, I've been trying to finish writting the articles for Another Block, and I've been also trying to port Another Block for MONO, but MONO doesn't have a very good System.Windows.Forms implemented, so I will probably have to write the interface again in GTK or QT. We are also thinking about starting the next game in our series... or, maybe, start something more wild. :) Who knows. I'll let you people know, as soon as I find out.

As promissed... I'm here today to talk about my companies and stuff related to them.
Well, the bottom line is: I had this company called Fluxwire for about one year. Meanwhile, since I wasn't very satisfied with Fluxwire, I was organizing things to open Tempo. Meanwhile again, another company that I've worked for before, called CASE, called me and a friend to offer a part of this company to us, and in exchange, Tempo would be a CASE company. We thought that it was a good idea, and now we are all working together. Tempo will be opened soon, but it will be a CASE company, and I've just sold my part of Fluxwire.

What will that change? Well, I still don't know about the game development part. We will do it all, of course, but I don't know if I'll release it all under Tempo's name, since CASE is not going to be a part of the game development projects (I think). The rest of the things will stay basically the same, and we hope Tempo will prosper. :)

I guess that's it... Any doubts?! ;) ;) :)

I've moved the Another Block articles to the SourceForge website, due to advantages like version control, and other stuff. I've also updated the current articles, as I told I would.

Back, Changes and SharpDevelop

Hello everyone. It's been quite a while since I've posted, but now I'm back at my blogging activities, and my game development activities too.

Lots have changed in my professional life, and I'll detail that in my next post. Meanwhile, let me tell you all that I will revise the Another Block articles, specially the "Tools and Other Stuff" one, because I had the time to check out many free and good tools. SharpDevelop was one of these tools, and I must say that it is a very good tool, and it's worth taking a look at it. If you can't afford paying for the very expensive Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, try it: http://www.sharpdevelop.net/OpenSource/SD/Default.aspx. It does almost everything VS.NET does, for free.

The "Project" article will be revised too, because I've finally had the time to make the whole project diagrams for Another Block, and even describing the use cases and all. That should get everything to a point where I can finish the articles in no time, and with good quality.

I guess that's it... Scenes from the next post: I'll talk about Tempo (my company) and its merge with CASE (another company), and also, me leaving Fluxwire (my other company). :) Lots of companies... See yah!

New version of Another Block

I'm very excited about this. :) My precious little game, Another Block, has a new version.
The interface is much better, with colorful blocks (thanks to Gianfranco), sounds (thanks to me. ;)) and some small features that, after playing for a while, we found out that some things were better, some weren't, and some things were needed (thanks to Hervan).

Another Block

Hello everybody!

I'm here to introduce you to Another Block. Another Block is another Tetris® clone that I have developed for Tempo (my brand new company...). As we decided that games would be a part of our effort, developing a Tetris® clone became something we needed to do, for two reasons: first because we wanted to have a game, any game, released soon, and what's faster to develop than a Tetris® clone? Second, because we were interested in writting something like a tutorial to help people get into game development, and Tetris® is a good way to start, and we couldn't find a tutorial like "make your own Tetris® clone" for free in the net, so we decided to make one.

Now we've got the first working version of the game, and it looks nice and complete, with help and all (believe me, this is SOMETHING... Help files are something that NO developer likes to do), and people can play it, or play with it, since we are releasing it under GNU GPL. Soon to be is the series of articles that I'm writting, to help people follow my steps in doing this Tetris® clone. I'll publish them here too, don't worry.

We've got the Another Block project in SourceForge, and you can download it from there. The project's page is http://sourceforge.net/projects/anotherblock. There's still no beautiful and nice home page, but we are working on that too.
