Holy cow!
Forget everything I told you before about UHarc.
7-Zip rulez. It uses the LZMA method, and it compressed those same files in 1 minute and 58 seconds, to 17.5MB!!! I got UHarc to get the same size by increasing the dictionary (because I noticed that 7-Zip uses a large dictionary too), but still, it took 4 minutes and 28 seconds, and used about 250MB of memory to compress them. So, the new comparison table is:
| |
WinZIP |
WinRAR |
WinUHA (32MB dictionary) |
7-Zip |
| Time to compress (mm:ss) |
00:13 |
01:07 |
04:28 |
01:58 |
| Compressed size (MB) |
26.4 |
24.9 |
17.7 |
17.5 |
And I thank Mr. Fernando Brunelli who posted the comment on my post before, calling my attention to 7-Zip. :)
