.NET Framework 2004?

First time I have seen the term .NET Framework 2004.

Hopefully that's a mistake. ;)

Random Notes 19Jan05

Mr. Kent Sharkey informs everyone who may be interested in working with the latest ASP.NET 2.0 bits that the November 2004 CTP is better than the December 2004 CTP package. Where do you get these Community Technology Previews btw? From logging onto your MSDN subscription, that's how! Bill Gates is trying to arrange a meeting with the President of Brazil in order to convince him about the evils of open source and why they should stick it out with Microsoft. Interesting read here on this topic. I would ......

Though just a start ... ASP.NET Learning Resource List

I started putting together a resource list - kind of a 'best of' - of all the resources out there on the Internet to help you learn ASP.NET. There is so much material out there, that I wanted to put together a list for those that don't really have the time to go through it all and just give them links to what I deem is some of the most valuable material people should be aware of. Here's the link: http://www.geekswithblogs.n... I plan on expanding this list ......

IBM Gives Away 500 Patents to Open Source

IBM announced that they are giving 500 of their thousands of patents to the open source community in hopes of spurring innovation which many believe is hindered by the US Patent Office and their patent policies. It is a pretty interesting move and they are hoping that others will follow suit and do the same. Here is a PDF of the patents they are giving away. Here is a story about this release ......

BETA: Microsoft's Anti-Spyware Software Released as Beta 1

http://www.microsoft.com/do... Here it is! And I have to say that it is running very well on my WinXP machine here. Interesting though, when you go to download the .exe, it will only allow for you to download it if you allow Microsoft to 'validate' if your OS is genuine or not. Also interesting that the updater .exe for the program is still called GIANTAntiSpywareUpdater.exe. I guess since it is a beta product, that ......

Neowin Report: Microsoft to release anti-spyware software this week

Neowin is reporting that Microsoft is to release a new (for them) anti-spyware program which they recently purchased from GIANT. This link includes numerous screenshots as well. Pretty interesting. I use Ad-Aware at present as well as SpyBot. Another interesting program is HijackThis. I *LOVE* anti-spyware programs. :) http://www.neowin.net/comme... ......

Random Notes 04Jan2005

Reuters was in the list of the top 10 European stock gainers. It seems our stock here went up 60.9% in 2004. Nice! Interesting site I found today ... IT Conversations. What is a traditionalist to do? It seems that the New York Times is going to stop carrying pages of stock prices in their newspaper, stating - “You can get this information on the Web anyhow“. Bah Humbug! I got 2,000 spam messages over my four day break from email that I took around XMAS. My 2004 New Year's resolution of ......
