The INETA board meets every 3 or 4 months face-to-face to go over issues that INETA faces and plan for the next quarter. This last meeting (last Saturday) was very special for us. INETA brought in the board and a representative from each of the INETA committees (UG Relations, Marketing, Infrastructure, Academic and Speakers) to meet with INETA's first full-time employee. Our new employee (name to be announced soon) will start on November 1st, but came to meet us at our meeting over the weekend. This was a much needed addition as we have grow so fast and to such a large size, that we really needed someone who could keep all the volunteers on track and grapple with the tremendous amount of logistics that are now required to run INETA. It is a great time in our history!
We spent the first half of the day going over the history of INETA and helping our new employee understand our mission, goals and activities as well as our structure and volunteer base. We then spent the second half of Saturday focused on INETA in the next 12 months. Boy, do we have a lot planned. Some nice additions include:
- More speaker events
- More user group care packages
- More volunteer rewards
- A bigger and better user group leaders summit at TechEd in Orlando
- A new website that brings together all of the INETA regions
- More detailed and better INETA status reports
- Newsletters that are better targeted
Do you want to help out? We are always looking for more volunteers, so feel free to contact me or one of the many other INETA volunteers that make INETA happen. Do you realize that we have almost 100 volunteers out there that run INETA? It is simply amazing.
INETA is also going to be looking to add two new board members rather quickly and I will soon post on the details on how to apply. Stay tuned!
