Microsoft resubmits a revised anti-spam specification to the IETF

Earlier, Microsoft's submission of the SenderID specification (anti-spam) to the IETF was rejected by a lot of companies and this sent Microsoft back to the drawing board. This was due to concerns about the spec falling in certain patented areas of Microsoft's world. Now the SenderID spec has been revised to take care of these concerns and now Microsoft has AOL on their side. The idea of the spec is that mail servers will match up a domain name from the email address to make sure that the email really...

Build Your Own Computer - Part I

It’s not as hard as you think. A few years back, all I knew about computers was on the software side of things. I am a developer and have been programming since I was twelve. I never considered doing anything on the hardware side of things myself. I remember the computer I bought in 1994 cost me $3,800. Computers today are not that expensive, but they still are pricey, BUT I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN EASILY BUILD YOUR OWN COMPUTER. It is easier than doing a puzzle … really. Here...

ASP.NET Vulnerability Reported - TAKE PROPER ACTION!

No fix at the moment, but Microsoft reported an ASP.NET vulnerability yesterday: http://www.microsoft.com/se... It deals with the canonicalization of files and a hacker's ability to play with the URL to get at files they shouldn't. There are safeguards to protect yourself in the meantime. INETA just keeps growing

The INETA board meets every 3 or 4 months face-to-face to go over issues that INETA faces and plan for the next quarter. This last meeting (last Saturday) was very special for us. Our new employee (name to be announced soon) will start on November 1st, but came to meet us at our meeting over the weekend. This...
