Thoughts on the Technology Management Conference

As I posted earlier, I was at the Technology Management Conference in New York City last week. This is the largest conference for IT in the financial services industry. Reuters was one of the main sponsors of the event. It was a jam-packed event: another sign that the financial services industry is rebounding quite well in the United States, something that is mildly happening in Asia and hasn't yet seen the light of day in Europe at the moment. Reuters, while doing little last year (in my opinion), did quite well at this event. We had a completely new pavilion built for this event and it looked rather sharp in my mind. Though, I would suggest a small theater for next year's pavilion as I think it would work well to have different scheduled sessions on our products and offerings which customers could listen to. We were also had provided all the badges so that our name was all over the band that held the badges. Because of this, it was rather funny to see our competitors wearing our logo at times. We also had some of the best swag to give out. I, myself, had some good talks with Blackberry, Intel and others as I made my way around the showroom floor. Nice event overall.

WROX's Professional VB.NET 2003 Released!

I just got a copy of my latest book, WROX's Professional VB.NET 2003, in the mail last week, so I am guessing the book is out and ready for sale even though Amazon at this moment says it hasn't been released yet. This was a fun book to work on and I got to write it with the likes of Billy Hollis and Rocky Lhotka - two icons in the VB world! Enjoy.
