Devin is still looking for volunteers for INETA development

I think that Devin is still looking for volunteers for INETA development. I have seen the next version of the site to come soon and it is rather cool. The guys working on it are doing an outstanding job!

Beagle2 isn't talking
It seems that Beagle2 made it to Mars, but isn't communicating with anyone. Too bad. I was really looking forward to this. That sucks. Though it is quite the achievement to make it to Mars.

Is anyone else watching Beagle2?
It is quite exciting that Beagle2 is landing on Mars tomorrow! This is the European venture to Mars and the command control is in Germany. I watched with awe when the US look the rover to Mars and was on the NASA website every day looking at the latest and greatest pictures. The Beagle2 website is a bit funny. It doesn't seem that professional and seems more like a garage-shop approach to the whole thing if you ask me. The program also seems to push this Professor Colin Pillinger everywhere they ......

New Book Project!
Well, I am starting a new book project (can't say what at this moment). But I am excited about this one. So, I am now in process of getting some machines ready, doing research, coding examples and building a hopefully good table of contents. This is one of the exciting times in the book writing cycle - at the beginning when the entire project is ahead of you and the possibilities are endless. Ask me in two months how I feel though!  ;)

St. Louis User Groups Page!
Though just a page with links at the moment - the St. Louis .NET User Groups has a single page for all the user groups to share (in addition to our regular sites). We think this cross-promotion will help all the user groups grow and show the strength of the user group community here in St. Louis. We actually got both and ......

Heading to Seattle for the week!
Heading to Seattle for some Reuters business with Microsoft. I love going to Seattle. First off, I was raised there and when I drive somewhere - all I say is - “Hey, I've been there and there and there and there.” Also, I love the campus of Microsoft and all the energy floating around those buildings. Hope to see some of you there. My favorite night hangout lately has been the TapHouse or TapRoom in Bellevue that has 150 or so beers on tap ......

ASP.NET Roadshow Drove Through St. Louis!
Rob Howard, PM on the ASP.NET team, came to St. Louis last night for the ASP.NET Roadshow. It was an outstanding event and the St. Louis .NET User Group along with Microsoft got around 450 people there for the event. The event covered ASP.NET Basics, ASP.NET Tips and Tricks, ASP.NET Security and ASP.NET Whidbey. Our meeting was about 3 1/2 hours long. Poor Rob - he got in a car wreck before the event here in St. Louis. He was squished between two cars (the perpetrator being a cab) - and complained ......

Christmas is coming .... is it a present for the boy or me? hehe
Well, Christmas is coming and I need to get shopping (I am horrible with this). My boy, Henri, is 3 this year - so it is a fun Christmas. I am going out to get him a slot-car racing set (don't tell my wife!). I used to get one of these every year when I was a kid - now it is his turn. BUT, I am sooo excited about getting this slot-car set as well that I think I can almost put my name on the package next to his. Thanks Santa ......

Who's thinking of using the available IP from Microsoft?
Awesome news! Microsoft is going to make a lot of IP available to customers. Who plans on using some of this in the next year? ... interesting to know.

XBOX and the USO
It seems that Microsoft is going to supply XBOX game consoles for a number of USO centers. This article is interesting. The strange comment to me was from Ned Powell who says that they are trying to find “any diversion” from where they are going and what they are doing. So I am thinking about some young solider going off to fight battle in Iraq or wherever ... he comes into the USO ... sits down ... Oh an XBOX! How nice. I need a little diversion from where I am going .... Hmmm, let's see ... what ......

Don't Buy That Flat Panel TV for Christmas!
Every time I go into Best Buy, all I see are these flat panel TVs. There are so many of them, it seemed to me that every household had one but mine. This article about flat panel TVs made me happy though when it said that these TVs only account for 3% of all TV sales and more importantly - that you should wait till next year to buy your flat panel TV as prices will drop another 30%! That means I should get mine by 2006 - about the same time as Longhorn! ;) Unless Santa is reading my blog! Hey Santa ......

On the Choice of Language
There seems to be one topic in the .NET community that usually gets a lot of responses and can sometimes turn into an ugly debate. It’s the question – which language should I program in? Some folks choose one language and stick with it. Some are forced to choose two, because their job demands it. Though, no matter how many programming languages one uses though, they usually turn to a tried and try favorite and primarily use this one for their development purposes. When it comes to .NET languages, ......

Interesting opinion on the idea of running Linux on Windows
Here is an interesting opinion piece on the idea of Microsoft running the Linux kernel on Windows - why they would do it and what they would get out of doing such as move.
