This week I’m at the Microsoft Build/Windows conference. Now I’ve been to many conferences throughout the years and this is the first conference where I literally knew nothing about including the agenda. When I signed up for my badge on arrival we got a conference guide with all the hours of the session but no sessions. Very secret, very cloak and dagger. This created a huge buzz but also upped the expectation quite a bit… So with the tabled laid out and the expectation high I sat down and waited ......

Hey everyone, I know it’s been an eternity since I blogged but I have so much to do that I unfortunately need to prioritize. Vincent Grondin and I did a 7h presentation on the new developer and tester tools available in the VS 2010 suite. It was a blast. We did it in front of an audience (around 120) and it was taped. We did it as a play and really didn’t look at the crowd at all we were training each other on the technology. It is now available for anyone that would like to watch it at this location: ......

I just noticed I haven’t blogged in about 8 months… time flies when you have work to do. Things are going well and I have a few bits of insight I’ll try to share in the coming months (ya ya to busy to blog, etc). Anyway I wanted to say that I was renewed as an ALM MVP for the 6th year, I’m very happy about this obviously, I invest a lot of time in the Montreal community and with the ALM Team at Microsoft to make each version of the ALM suite just a bit better. I will continue to drive the team and ......

Well I obviously couldn’t resist the temptation to install the Windows 7 RC. Well I’m actually speechless (which says a lot if you know me). This is a great OS I mean I was expecting good even great but I’ve been extremely pleased. It’s fast, I mean really fast. I didn’t really have issues with Vista on that front when it was booted but it did feel sluggish at times. Windows 7 is very snappy I sold. I almost never reboot (If I can avoid it) and coming back from sleep is very fast in Windows 7 it ......

Hello everyone still listening… I know I’ve been a little silent for a while, well almost 6 months actually. Let’s say I’ve been busy ;-). The first big news is that I have left my old employer after 17 years. I’d like to say that it’s been a great time and I wish them good luck. I was offered a position has director of the Microsoft practice here in Montreal at DMR and I needed a change so I accepted the position. It’s been great and I’ve been real busy. I’m getting my head out a little bit now ......

So I’ve been trying to do some custom build numbering for my Team Build project and was confronted with a lot of let’s say “uninformation” and some great information also. I really didn’t want to create a custom task that I would need to maintain so I set on a long search for the Truth… needless to say I didn’t find it. But here is the information I found that should get you you to the right place. There is a great custom task created by the MSBuild team that used to be on GotDotNet but is now MSDN ......

I just got my hands on a the shinny new version of MindManager 7 and let me tell you you're in for a threat. Lots of people where on the fence when Microsoft came out with the ribbon stating training would be and issue, users are used to a certain interface etc. Well now that it's been around for almost a year counting betas every time I show it to someone they are a bit skeptical but after playing with it for a bit would never go back to the old menu interface. Fast forward to today, Minjet just ......

So, I've been reading a lot of blogs in the last few days about this and would like to put in my .02c First off, I'm not going to tell you the SP beta is available since I think everyone on the planet did a great job at that... oh wait I just did as well ;-). Anyway register and get it on Microsoft Connect. As for Legacy support of .Net and Visual Studio in Vista, I think Microsoft are doing the right thing here. We are moving in the future with a new OS. We have a VS that works with the current ......

16:30 EST – Day 22, On the plane again after 27h shore leave home. My bags didn’t make it from New York to Montreal but I got them at 9pm yesterday just in time to do some washing and repacking. I’m now on the way to Kokomo Indiana (I know less exotic than New-Zealand and Argentina but I’m sure the people there will be as great as everywhere else). This will be my 3rd stop and the 4th for Sandman and Chief. I think I’m back to the correct time zone (in my body anyway) ......

6:15am (Argentina Time) – Day 17, This Timezone thing is killing me, I’m so confused I don’t know what time it is anymore. We Left New Zealand on Monday the 22nd at 5pm (NZ time) and after 13.5h of flying and 1.5h of layover in Santiago, Chile we arrived in Buenos Aires get that at the same time on the 22nd (Argentina Time). Talk about Back to the Future ;-). We were supposed to fly from Wellington to Aukland and then to Santiago but decided instead to road trip from Wellington ......
