Browsing the web today I came across another Microsoft’s venture, Popfly. I hope a lot of people already know this. It's another step by Microsoft that allows users to create games, web-pages and mashups using Microsoft Silverlight Rich Internet Applications Runtime. You just need to use your Windows Live ID to register. Popfly is currently in Beta phase of development.
Popfly allows you to:
Create Games:
Popfly is a simple way to create and share games with your friends. And best of all, you can get started without writing a line of code.
Build Mashups:
Mashups are a kind of application that take information from many places and mix it together. With Popfly's mashup creator you'll be able to take photos, RSS feeds, and many other kinds of information and combine them to create your own personalized view of the web. You can use the Mashup Creator tool that lets users fit together pre-built blocks in order to mash together different web services and visualization tools.
Designing a Web Page:
Using the Popfly's Web Page Creator you can create Web pages without any HTML codes. Users can embed their shared mashups in the web page. Completed web pages will also be saved in each user's Popfly space. Predefined styles and themes can be used to customize your web pages.
Popfly promises to be a boon for gaming enthusiasts who haven’t yet started programming (or don’t want to learn programming), to create games using a large library of actors, images, and sounds provided by Popfly.
Popfly makes it easy to place your creations into your blog, your Facebook page, or even make them into Windows Vista sidebar gadgets.
You can use Popfly in a number of other ways like – importing and converting your images from Flickr and embed them into your bog or Facebook page, putting information into a map so that you can share it with friends and embedding your applications in your Facebook page.
Visit Popfly and start having fun!
