The Citrix Mobile Console allows you to manage your Citrix using mobile handheld devices or mobile phones which support the Citrix ICA Client on them. (Windows CE, Mobile)

Essentially it's an adapted version of the Citrix Management Console (CMC) you can access from a mobile (small form factor) device.

Whilst this is quite a cool idea and geekie concept the novelty wears off pretty quickly. The small form factor screen may be great for a quick check of the email or calendar, but using it for more than a couple of minutes can really affect your eyes and your sanity.

That being said there are scenarios where the Citrix Mobile Console could come in handy maybe at 3am in the morning when out, and that all important support call from your boss comes in, getting the mobile device out and connecting in from anywhere (in theory) could be quick and provide administration support as required and the reduced need of carrying all that bulky laptop kit.

You can
download the Citrix Mobile Console here. (a mycitrix.com login is required)

Charles:

Thanks for helping to promote and push the new Mobile CMC utility. We (Citrix) were trying to demonstrate two concepts with this product:

1) How you can take a "large" application and reduce its size and functionality to a small, mobile form factor
2) As for the CMC, we like the idea that you can be at a "bar" and reset your server without much effort

So, while you do lose functionality, you gain mobility and accessibility. I believe there are other applications besides the CMC that can also be modified and delivered via Citrix solutions. I look forward to responses from anyone who has tried the CMC tool and has other ideas to "mobilize" applications with Citrix .

Thanks.

I agree, the future of using applications on the move is Hugh and making the large application work on a small device is cool...

CMC works really well to reset the server and I have already tried it a few times... :), as I have seen over the years and see today mobility and flexibility is now coming of age and with the help’s of Citrix technology to use application on the move is becoming a reality.

Keep pushing the limits Citrix , cos mobilization is going to get bigger and bigger
