According to Martin LaMonica over at news.com the Mono group is requesting a Birds of a Feather session at PDC 05. They claim that their BOF session request for PDC 03 was swept under the rug.
While the article hints at conspiracy one has to wonder what the advantage of keeping them out would be. The Microsoft vs. Linux Fanboy argument aside I can’t see the benefit of keeping them out. Of course I don’t see the big picture, or at least the picture Microsoft is looking at.
I remember for TechEd we voted for our BOF sessions and they even make mention of that in this article. One can assume that holds true for PDC as well. Perhaps Mono needs to face the facts. The attendees have spoken and the interest just isn’t there. I don’t know really. I find Mono interesting and even needed but I can’t honestly say that I test against it nor would I probably go to a BOF session on it.
I can say however if given the choice between “New frontiers for 6502 assembly language in the copy-editing industry” and Mono, I’d vote Mono. If you just said “Huh?” then read the parent article at news.com.
