Ok, honestly… who doesn’t have at least one post by now about Windows Vista Beta 1?
First off if you haven’t heard by now the August 3rd date given for MSDN access to the Vista Beta 1 bits wasn’t quite accurate. If by August 3rd they meant July 27th then they were spot on. Really I don’t care. I’m just glad I have the bits today. The rumors and press releases were so back and forth on the whole “date” issue that it doesn’t really surprise me that it was made available today.
I just finished downloading and burned it to a DVD.
My first experiment… installing it on VMware v5 b13124. Right off the bat I can tell you that the graphics on the first set of setup screens on VMware are very poor quality. So poor you can barely tell what the text says. I crossed my fingers and went with the defaults. Of course I imagine this is because VMware won’t do pretty until you can install their drivers. I don’t have a “real” machine at the moment to see the difference (read: what it “should” look like) so I’m not too worried about it. After all, it’s just beta 1 and I’m trying it on a VM.
Note to self: Free up a partition on workstation at office for b1.
I’ll post my VM install results if it goes horribly wrong.
